1. UK law requires replacement
pads and shoes to be E marked in accordance with Regulation 90 if supplied for and/or fitted to any vehicle weighing
less than 3.5 tonnes (Unladen)and first used in the UK on or after 1 September 1999. (V Reg.)2. The material specification for pad / shoe references not required by law to be approved to Regulation 90 is identical to the material specification used for approved references. 3. Brakeworld products are safety critical components. They are warranted to be of Merchantable quality fit for the purpose for which they are supplied. In the case of products listed in this catalogue that purpose is use as detailed on the vehicles described, under the operating conditions appropriate to those vehicles. 4. Many vehicles are manufactured in more than one country and fit brake components from more than one supplier. Whilst every effort has been made to check the accuracy of the data contained in this catalogue, responsibility cannot be accepted for any inaccuracy that may have arisen or for any subsequent loss, damage or claim. 5. All cable and hydraulics applications are for right hand drive vehicles. Cables are supplied in industry standard polythene bags in the Brakeworld image. 6. Brake fluid containing silicon is not recommended for use with Brakeworld hydraulic products. |

| Fitting Hints and Tips |
|
|
Braking products are safety critical components and vehicle manufacturer's guidelines should always be followed. Before attempting to fit replacement parts, always compare the new components with those removed from the vehicle to ensure compatibility. It is strongly recommended that brake pads, shoes, discs and drums are fitted in axle sets. Replacing components on only one wheel can be dangerous. Do not fit new brake pads / shoes to excessively worn discs / drums. This may impair braking performance and reduce pad / shoe service life. Before fitting replacement brake parts ensure that all other brake system components, as well as those associated with steering and suspension, are not excessively worn or damaged. To ensure maximum performance and service life, new brake pads, shoes and discs require bedding in. This is best achieved by using the vehicle under normal driving conditions for at least 150 miles (250km). Avoid violent braking from high speed or excessive light braking applications during this period. Care should be taken not to overload vehicles as this may impair braking performance. Particular care should be taken when towing unbraked caravans and trailers. BRAKE PADS AND SHOES FITMENT When fitting handed pads / shoes, care should be taken to ensure that the pads / shoes are fitted in their correct positions. When fitting new pads and shoes it is recommended that new fitment kits are used. Ensure pads and shoes do not become contaminated before or during fitting. Some pads are fitted with anti-noise shims coated with adhesive. The peel off cover protecting the adhesive surface MUST be removed before the pads are fitted. BRAKE DISC AND DRUM FITMENT Before fitting discs / drums it is vital to ensure that the vehicle hub is clean of all debris/dirt and rust deposits, otherwise brake judder may subsequently occur. Disc and drum braking surfaces should be cleaned using a suitable brake cleaner before fitting (ensure brake cleaner manufacturer's safety instructions are followed). HYDRAULICS FITMENT Strict cleanliness must be observed to avoid contamination of hydraulic parts. Contamination may cause premature failure of rubber seals and hoses. Great care should be taken when fitting tube nuts, bleed screws, and hoses, to avoid cross threading and / or over tightening otherwise thread and / or casting damage may occur. After fitment of new hydraulic parts, the hydraulic system should be bled strictly in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer's instructions using only new hydraulic fluid of the correct specification. Brake hoses should not be twisted or kinked and all brackets / grommets must be attached to the vehicle correctly to ensure hoses do not stretch, chafe or foul. BRAKE AND CLUTCH CABLES FITMENT Cables should be located to the correct mounting points on the vehicle following manufacturer's instructions. Care should be taken to ensure that cables are routed correctly. Make sure that the cable does not foul any other component. Avoid tight bends - as this may lead to premature failure. GENERAL All fastenings should be tightened strictly in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines. |
